How Many? Is it RARE?

I don't see anything about your truck on the web. This may have been a dealer special. You could try Dakota forums if there are any out there.

I had a Dakota with the same bars in chrome and I believe it was a dealership special because I can’t find them anywhere online and this picture of the red truck is the only other Dakota I’ve seen with them. This was a very incredibly rare Dakota and I believe probably one of the rarest dakotas you will ever find. I think you would have better luck finding an original Shelby cobra than this Dakota with the factory roll bars

So I just picked up my 4th Dakota and I think she's a special one. Its a 97 single cab 318 where dual exhaust and headers from Factory and she's purple can anyone tell me if this truck was a dealer special or just very limited thanks

Greetings! I purchased a red 1998 Dakota R/T brand new back in the day. Fireside Dodge Modesto, CA. I ordered the "light bar" from the dealer's accessory brochure. It arrived painted & ready to mount. It cost $1000 for dealer to install it. It looked like an awesome roll bar, so I never purchased nor installed the four round lights along the top. I ended up selling the truck back to Dodge because there was a big scandal at the time because they printed in the owners manual that the truck could tow 10,000 lbs. I started getting letters saying they would "come up with a solution". Remedy was to either accept a coupon for $1000 ...or they'd credit you 4 payments ... or ...they'd buy the truck back; returning every dime you spent. I opted to cash-in and received the refund. I've only seen one other truck in person with this light bar, and several others in photos. So sorry I sold it back. I have since bought another 98 R/T that was also apparently sold back to Dodge. It says "Warranty Return" on the Title. Would love to find and purchase that same roll (light) bar back again and install it on the one I have now.
