Blew up battery in 13 Jetta

I jumped my 13 Jetta battery with a bigger
battery and blew the top off.smh..new battery
installed and everything in car comes on
without the key.i can even engage the shifter
but engine not running.turning key does
nothing.anyone know what the problem is?

I suspect you did more damage than blow up your battery. The electrical system would need to be checked. How are the fuses?
Mark i had too.lol.smh....im gonna check the alternator wires and the ignition switch in 10 mins..hopefully i can find the problem....im gonna post pics today..wish i could post a vid to show
Bob i must have...i think i melted wires from the battery acid
Shorting out wires will melt them. Acid might damage them a bit but not melt them.
Thanks f_o_r....do u think i should check the wires under the fuse box...somethings cutting the car on soon as i connect the battery without going into the car
