2013 Honda CR-V EX - MID went blank after changing battery

Asked by Allen Aug 24, 2017 at 06:52 PM about the 2013 Honda CR-V EX FWD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Battery changed by Adv Auto.  After complete, no MID screen, no back up
camera, key fob and controls on left side of steering wheel do not work.
Instrument panel and radio work as normal.
Adv Auto recommended going to local Honda dealer to do "battery reset".
They were unaware of this functionality.  No quick fix.  Scheduled an
appointment.
Read several posts - hold volume button for 10 sec to soft reset, remove
negative battery cable for few minutes, etc.  No luck.
What needs to be done to repair this?

Did you drive this after replacing battery? I just watched a YouTube video on a 2017 crv same issue and the solution is to drive it and put foot on brake and issues will resolve. Is this true? Type in 2017 crv battery reset and watch the one that is 2:40 long

My other question is did they uninstall and install battery correctly? Negative off, positive off. Then Positive on and then negative on? My stepfather did all kinds of damage to his truck installing a battery wrong. I chased electrical issues for 2 weeks replacing about 1,000 dollars worth of fried components.

Thanks, but the YouTube video really wasn't my problem. I did drive it and put my foot on the brake. Not resolved. I did watch as they uninstalled and installed the battery. No issues. Might have been their battery settings keeper they used in the driver's side of the vehicle.

Same thing happen to me after AAA change my battery on my 2013 Honda CRV, the radio/backup camera screen was not working. STEPS: 1. pull the radio fuse under inside panel check it was ok. 2. Pull the Back Up fuse under hood of car and it was bad. Replace the 10amp fuse and main screen and radio lid up. Goodluck.

Ok. I searched high and low. No one could solve this. So I figured it out myself. My 29 fuse wasn’t blown as some suggest, but, with the car power on (not running. Just on) remove the fuse. Replace it. Pow. Working MID. 2016 Honda CR-V MID not working after battery replacement, left steering wheel controls also not working. Solved.

GuruH7CHH This person has the correct solution. Turn ignition to on position, but do not start vehicle. Remove #29 fuse and reinstall.

GuruH7CHH is correct. This also worked for me on 2013 Honda Civic LX. Pull #29 fuse and reinstall.

Can I ask a) was the ignition fully on our in accessory mode and b) did you need to reinput the radio code after putting the fuse back in?
