car wont start

I have a 2013 chevy cruze ltz that will not start, The lights come on but when I
pushed the button to start it, i hear nothing.

probably has something to do with battery or with one of the relays . i had the same issue and fixed relay

Would this have anything to do with someone messing with the gas tank like putting sugar etc. in there?
