Question type: General

The mount that holds the alternator has a
little lip that sticks out which makes it to
where the alternator won't line up to put the
bolt through

Both alternators are the same, I just bought this car and it was already outta the car so I didn't get to see how it was taken out, but everything is the same on the car itself and the alternator

Jim beat me but I will go ahead with my post...at least we agree. You might not have the right alternator. If you didn't exchange you old one when you bought the new one, take it back and compare, It would certainly not be the first time a parts clerk sold the wrong part. 1987...serpentine...?

It takes the serpentine belt and I compared old to new and they are identical

If it was out, someone was attempting the same install, check the wrong mount, or grind to fit as long as in line and adjustable it works

Ya the guy that had it before me took the old one out to replace it, just never got around to putting the new one in, so now I'm just trying to figure out what to do about the lip onthe mmount, but ill try the grinder idea, thank you
