First thing I would do is an ohm meter test of the coil to see if it's shorted, grounded, or open. If that's too complicated, just buy a new one, they're only $10 where I shop online. Then check out condition of the distributor, rotor, wires. There is also an ignition control module and crank shaft position sensor in this ignition system. You might try to find a shop that can scan for codes on these cars built before 1996 before OBDII diagnostics came along. I think they call it OBD one. Sounds like a cool car. Keep it going.
