I've lost my one and only chipped key for my 2004 Ford ranger what do I do?

Ford can not get a code on a 10 year old or older vehicle (I work for a Ford dealer). Lock cylinder and key has to be replaced. Then you will have to buy a spare key because the computer will have to be reprogrammed and reprogramming will require 2 keys. I would try real hard to find the lost key.
