Squealy belt

Asked by Jonathan Oct 18, 2017 at 04:52 PM about the 1996 Dodge Neon Coupe FWD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

My car squeals when turning sharply in
either direction, was told that was the
power steering belt. It also squeals every
few minutes when driving down the
highway. Any ideas?

inspect the belt to see if it is cracked or worn. they will squeak if they are old. if the belt is good, it could be the power steering pump itself or the pulley bearing on it.
