I have a 1986 Toyota Pickup 22R Engine 4 speed manual. The water flow has sand in it. I just replaced the head gasket yesterday Sept 15, 2013. Is there anyone who could help me out by telling me what is the best way to get the sand out of the water flow? Thank you.

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

The Toyota has been sitting for awhile not running. But now the head gasket was replaced. It started up & Idled fine till the one of the freezer plug blew off. So I turned off the truck. When I looked at where the freezer plug blew. I noticed there was sand in the water flow. So there anyone who could help me out, by telling what I need to do from this point? Thank You.

i would hope the sand is left from when the block was cast originally and disturbing it now may leed to more problems. replace the freeze plugs that you can. also replace the thermostat if you didn't already and try again.
