Question type: Maintenance & Repair
I have a 2003 Ford Escape 6 cyl. I've replaced all 3 components in the EGR
system. the EGR valve, the pressure feedback sensor and the control switch. I
cant get the dang light to stay off and there are no other codes that show up
just the EGR code. What the heck is going on?

What is the 4 digit code? There are a few that are related to the EGR. Advise will be different depending on the code.
Yeah, need the code. Plus, excessive back pressure from the exhaust can force open the EGR when it should be closed like at startup. Check your cats.
The code is P0403 and is still coming back on when the ignition is cycled. About two hrs ago I unhooked the battery hoping it would reset the computer and maybe it didnt recognize the new parts. I cleaned the fairly new air filter with shop air even inflated my tires to proper. Ive used some starter fluid to check for vacuum leaks (no rise in idle). Also a bottle of Sea Foam to clean out the cat a little. when I hooked back up the battery, BINGO the light was off, and it staed off. Then a couple hours later after driving around town a bunch It stayed off even while turning on and off the ignition. But its back on now with the same code. My mechanic has a nice snap on unit and the only test that didn't finish was the Cat test and he said that was odd. so you're probably right, it's the cat. Thank you so much for our input more will be useful
