Your right, you have to depress the pin , which is located on the lock cylinder itself. There is an access hole on the side of the column if you have the tilt wheel option. If you don't have the tilt wheel option, the steering wheel will need to be remove to allow access to the hole.

Just make sure the cam and pinion for the actual switch in side the column doesn't get disturbed/moved/out of adjustment . Curb side mech. tip of the day , remove steering wheel nut and try to pull it off while someone hits the spindle with a hammer to get it off with out a puller .

Weaklings. I just loosen the nut to the half way off and then yank the steering wheel off, sometimes it take a little back and forth but I’ve always been able to get then off that way. I have also run across some of the columns have slag covering the pin hole.
