89 Bronco won't start

Was running fine until the other day
alternator went out went to replace
alternator wire to alternator was bad went
got other wire connected it now it won't start
but I did forget to disconnect battery and it
made a small Ark can't figure it out I know it
was dumb of me to leave battery on but it
was running after I put alternator on but the
plug was bad would not charge you so I was
in a hurry help please

Find the electrical fault, fix it, recharge and load test the battery, confirm all fuses, relays, and fusible links, and electrical grounds are good.
