1994 Dodge Dakota no spark change the pick up coil

Hi there I have a 1994 Dodge Dakota I've
change the pick up coil and it fired right up
took it down the road for a  Drive and
started  dying on  me so I check for spark
again and no spark so I put another pick
up coil and it started again and burn it after
a couple of minutes does anybody know
what causes this   I did notice the number
#1 wire in distributor cap was kind of
toasted like it's gotten hot

I change cap and rotor wires and two pick up coil keeps burning the pick up coils what causes it to burn the pick up coil's
