94 Dodge Dakota rpm's dropping to 100, and voltage readings going down

Asked by E_Dakota Jan 09, 2015 at 08:18 PM about the 1994 Dodge Dakota SLT Club Cab 4WD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

On my 1994 5.2l Dodge Dakota, Occasionally when coming to a stop or idling at a
stop light for some time my truck will idle rough, the rpms will drop nearly to 0, the
voltage gauge drops, and if my headlights are on then those would dim also.  Replaced
battery, iac valve, spark plugs, cap and rotor, some fuel injectors, cleaned throttle
body real good, checked alternator and it was fine, fixed one vacuum leak already and
couldn't find another one.  I don't know what to do next.  Please help!

Have you checked and cleaned the negative battery connection on the frame and motor?

A couple weeks ago my car wouldn't start because my negative terminal and a mechanic fixed it up on the motor for sure. Not positive if he checked the frame too
