In automatic transmission you have something called a Reverse Inhibitor that would allow the trans to ignore the R selection while driving at speed. So there should be no damage from the mistake. I'm a little curious as why it shut off, as that can pose a danger with steering and braking. AFAIK the tranny in your car is electronically controlled and the reverse engagement would be ignored although t might cause the computer to go into limp mode, and maybe that is what caused it to shut off. If everything is back to normal don't sweat it.
Thanks man u maid me feel a lot better yea still dont understand how it shut off
