how can I remove gluey mess left after fabric door inserts have fallen off?

Asked by judilyn54 Sep 12, 2014 at 04:15 PM about the 2003 Ford Escape XLT FWD

Question type: General

All four fabric inserts fell off driver and passenger doors last summer. The plastic liner underneath isn't unattractive, but I'm having a difficult time removing the foam that was underneath. It had dried to a hard, gummy substance that I can't seem to get off even with something like WD-40. Hope someone can help. Thanks.
