My 2003 Ford Escape would idle at like 500 rpm and sometimes when I drive the RPM goes all the way to 8000 but doesn't feel like its at 8000 (the engine doesn't roar). The car shakes when I'm driving and it's at a low rpm. PLEASE HELP!

Sounds like the spring in the tach is very weak. could be repaired but I would check junk yards first as it is 12 years old.

@oldtimer37 I've tried looking up the tach spring, cant seem to find this part. What exactly is it for?

You can't just buy a spring. You will need to buy a new tach unless you can get yours rebuilt. Don't know where you are but in large cities there are people who rebuild spedos, gauges and tachs
