Question type: Maintenance & Repair

1992 Dodge Dakota V-6
Changed alternator a week or two ago as it was making some crazy noise.
Put gas in it two days ago, ran fine, stopped at a stop sign, had to hold foot
on gas to keep it running, got to my destination and it killed. Bad gas???
Pulled tank down, doesn't look like any water in the gas. Read up that to
test the fuel pump you put it in a quiet room to see if it runs, it runs then
shuts off (not sure if it is supposed to stay running or not)
Now, just turns over but does not start. Any suggestions before I order a
new fuel pump?

Check the fuel pressure regulator, pull the vacuum line off, see if you can see any gas around the regulator and in the line. Also maybe you should change out the fuel filter, and check the fuel pressure to verify the pump is bad. And it is suppose to run, prime up and then turn off when just turning the key to the on position.
