You should get 27-29 on the highway and 21-23 city. Another good way to check mileage is to fill tank until fuel nozzle kicks off. Then reset mileage and drive at least a couple hundred miles then go back to same fuel nozzle and fill until it kicks off. Now divide you total miles driven by the gallons used.

Thanks aztec, so how many should it read by the time the fuel light comes on, im from uk and not understanding kms here, i know that 35mpg is excellent. Can you tell me how many kms a full tank should give me, i know its hard to say exactly as it depends on whether i been driving highway or around town, so for the sake of it, lets say around town with a full tank. Thanks

Lets see you have a 13.2 gallon tank so if you drive mostly around town you should get about 290 miles to a tank. The fuel light will come on with about 2.5-3.0 gallons left in tank. Don't run it out of gas though there is a chance of burning out fuel pump.

In Km that would be about 464. 1 mile is approx. 1.6 Km.

Good Morning Aztec, i have a 2.0 tank. But gauge pointer is almost half way and i have done just 70 km, bought the car around 2 weeks ago and am just familiarising myself . But ob am worried as pointer is almost half way with just 70 km showing.

Your engine is a 2.0 litre. I would'nt concern yourself with the position of fuel gauge. They are seldom accurate. Wait till you fill up again. I had a car that would get 250 miles first half of tank then only 100 miles 2nd half.

That helps a bit :o) I bought the car from a dealer & am worried it may be a lemon as people tell me i got it cheap, i paid $4200 for it which included taxes and car proof , e test and plates. The story i guess will tell itself when the fuel light comes on and then i can see exactly.. Thanks again!! I love this forum!

Mine is a 2009 2.0 litre. When I fill the tank the distance to empty is usually around 620 km's. The amount you get out of it varies depending on how you drive but the fuel light always comes on when distance to empty shows 80km left. Hope this helps.

Thanks for your answers, i realise that after the fuel light there are still some kms left, i filled mine with 41 litres, when fuel light cae on, it is getting near the point on gauge that i filled it and it is showing almost 300km, if i had to hazard a guess i would say i will get 350 km, i called ford who told me that around town for 41 litres i should expect for my make and model 450 km, for sure i won't get anywhere near. Can you offer me some advice what to do to improve the consumption. I will post the exact kms when the fuel light comes on. Thanks

I am the first owner of a 2003 se focus .On the highway continuous driving I get about 590km to a tank of gas not wanting to run out i continue to drive may be 20km after the fuel low orange light comes on.This is with fresh oil change, air filter change and tire pressure @ 32 psi all around.I think it can get 600km to a full tank.

I have changed spark plugs, added a fuel cleaner, and an air filter, i get 320km around town, haven't done any highway driving as yet. But for sure i get 320km to 324km. Cant afford expensive repairs as i only need my car from a - b for work and it is very reliability .
