Can I put an N code engine from 2005 into my
2003 ford focus with a P code?

I really doubt a swap like that would run because of the ECM mismatch jumping to a different model year, and different engine. A salvage yard might make you a deal though.

I have the ecm with the N engine. Wondering if it'll still communicate with the 03

I'm not able to find any info on that. Swapping engines is a lot of work and it would be a big disappointment if it doesn't run.
