Maybe you shouldn't drive cars then LOL! Modern day cars, depending on how well taken care of last far longer than that due to much better build quality. Possibly 2 or three times as much! and Cadillacs by design are built like tanks.
Modern cars are certainly built "better" due to advanced metallurgy, computer design, and closer tolerances- but modern cars are more complicated beasts with many, many more parts and systems, many of them electronic or computer controlled- more parts, more things to go wrong- and these autos will not be "rebuilt" or "restored" in the future- not like the old classics- this makes them essentially throw away cars- great to have when they are new- then pass them along to some one else who will deal with the myriad electronic and mechanical failures that will occur as they age- true, a modern car's engine will go 300K miles with oil changes, but everything else on the car will turn to vampire dust- as for Cadillac, I have not heard many good things about the reliability of these cars- ex: the Northstar engine- and not to just pick on Cadillac, the market place has it's legends of makes that are notorious money pits- the game is confusing these days and it's hard to ride for cheap- maybe a '53 Caddy would be an ideal daily driver

I completely agree hands down with you on that! But wouldn't it be an even more perfect world if the 1955 technology had better gas mileage and no computers? so that most shade tree mechanics would once again be able to work on their our cars, and most jobs in around an hour or two at most. Then the money you saved on mechanics could be spent on your kids going to Collage too. Not to mention the joy and satisfaction of doing it YOURSELF with out outrageously priced equipment and training..........Just sayin!
I just turned 253,000 on m '88 Coupe Deville & she's still goin' strong. You take care of it & it'll take care of you.
