Transmission swap

The original 5speed transmission is broken
and I need a new one. Will a transmission from
a mk1 golf GTI fit the cabriolet model? Thanks!

Initial research looks like you need a transmission from an 87-89 Golf or Cabriolet...should be pretty easy to find a good used one for around $150 (US). Avoid the GTI versions as they have a shorter ratio on the 5th gear...poorer highway mileage.

Hey guys I just want to ask how do I mine the two pins or a fork in side a to torque convector with a gearbox on automatic or it can line itself during the process of running engine?
