1989 VW Cabriolet - Fuel pump getting fuel to distributor - Distibutor not getting fuel to injectors

Asked by SuncoastMotors Aug 24, 2015 at 04:58 PM about the 1989 Volkswagen Cabriolet Base

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I have a 1989 VW Cabriolet that is getting fuel to the fuel distributor, but not pumping fuel out of the top of the fuel distributor, then to injectors. Car will crank and run as long you spray starter fluid into the throttle body, but once the starter fluid runs out, car immediately turns off. Changed the fuel filters, oil cooler, water pump, timing belt, all gaskets, etc. Just no luck, i'm absolutely stumped. Any idea's guys??

Check for injector pulse with a noid light if no pulse check ECM (Electronic Control Module).

Theres a little screen in the fuel line banjo bolt that may be plugged. Pry it out and discard it if that hasnt been done already.
