I have a 1985 golf 1.8l automatic an it recently started to melt fuse # 13 which is the blinker an back up lights I've looked at the bulb holders an the fuse box an there no wires touching but I still can't find where the problem is

Also when the fuse is melting everything still works blinkers blink an revers lights still come on so I think its a short but I have no idea where it would b
Very descriptive. When a fuse melts, it's real close to the maximum load. I would suspect corrosion at one of the sockets is causing a path to ground. If the fuse is 10 amps or less, you can plug your meter across the fuse holder and see when it's pulling high amps. It should have the capacity to allow the turn signal and reverse lights to be on at the same time.
I will check for corrosion but if checked the v an it 11.8 almost 12 an if put in anything from 10 to 30 an all fuses melt..... an where would b the most possible place for the corrosion???? All lighting cases have no corrosion or shown wire. Would best case to look under the hood or in the car?? Also idk if u know much bout the golf but under the car I have a gas leak getting worse but I know Its not the fuel pump or lines but a housing I don't know what its called or if its to the fuel pump or gas tank I will upload a pic two all I know is its the gasket that's leaking
