doordoor makes weird noise when locking or unlocking

Asked by GuruDH4S8 Aug 30, 2017 at 05:13 AM about the 2005 Dodge RAM 1500 Rumble Bee RWD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

First my passenger door, now also the driver's side door.  Makes a
buzzing/honk/squeak noise when unlocking and locking the door either
manually or with the key fob.  Sometimes the key fob can't make the lock pop
up and so I have to use the key.  I think I might get locked out of the truck.
Thanks in advance for any advice offered!

Sounds like your lock actuator is starting to go bad. They are just little electric motors and plastic gears to cycle lock mechanism, cost about $35-45 for part. Does require opening door panel to replace.
