All subarus have a boxster style enigne that just means the thing is flat and the cylinders are horizontally opposed. Jonathan is correct but what answer are you looking for? You want it to have some special name like "boxer" engine? Its a four cylinders its 2.4L or 2354cc's if you prefer. It has dual overhead camshafts, It has Vtec which a fancy name for variable valve timing. what exactly do you want to hear?

i want to know what the specified name for the engine is, im just wondering because i hear the same 2.4L four cylinder i-vtech i just want to know if theres any specific name for it instead of that or if thats it.

It has a K24 engine. The previous civic Si, had the K20 but in the 2013 they upgraded to the K24, producing more power than the k20.

A Subaru has boxer engine. Look to Porsche for a boxster engine ;)
