2014 Kia Forte worn out engine.

Asked by Guru941KVL Sep 16, 2020 at 12:13 PM about the 2014 Kia Forte EX

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I have a 2014 Kia Forte EX with 2.0 litre GDI engine. The vehicle has 155,000
km. The engine is consuming oil. No drips or oil on ground. Dealer say car is
"High Mileage" and the engine needs to be rebuilt or replaced. I have 200,000
km. extended warranty. Can the problem be classified as "normal wear & tear"?

Apparently this is what they did. You would need evidence to refute their claim. This is the problem with a lot of these so called warranties. They claim the part is worn out, not broken leaving you in the lurch.

F_O_R, I have read the warranty carefully and there is, of course, some ambiguity there. The word "normal" is used when applied to the issue of early failure. My question is more to whether 155,000 km is an expected life for these internal engine parts. Car has been regularly maintained and 85%-90% of driving is on Highway. (And I use my Cruise Control 1/2 that time) So does this manufacturer consider normal (24,000 km/yr) mileage accumulation to be beyond what they expect the life expectancy of these parts? Does anyone else have experience with this situation & what was your results?
