Rear wheel bearings on Subaru Forester 2014

Both rear wheel bearings??
"Should"? Of course not! But Subie WBs have been "soft" for at least 30 years, so it's very common to lose one after 3-5 years use. They ARE covered under 5yr/60k, so you may just be past warranty on your '14. The hub-bearing assy is cheap online, and takes about an hour to swap in. Tell your wrench to NOT pound it into place, and torque it onto the axle carefully so as to not damage the new one either. There's not a high correlation across sides, so you're unlikely to need two, but I've recently bought OBs that were clearly driven long enough with a noisy WB that wasn't addressed, so I found myself needing both sides...on a 2013. Subaru went to a larger hub geometry with the latest iterations, but maddeningly didn't increase the diameter nor strength of the inner bearings, so I'm replacing occasional 2016's also. Typical Subaru $200 popcorn that shouldn't stress you out too much.
My 2017 WB on passenger rear went.
You would think Subaru would have change bearing mfg. by now. SKF bearing according to my mechanic is one of the worst bearing on the market.
I just replaced both of my rear WB. 75,000 miles. Cost was around $500. Not done at the dealer.

My right rear bearing (2016 Forester) went after 73,000 miles. I am a bit disappointed to hear all this bad news about the bearings here, but now I know to keep an ear on it (I knew something was wrong when a droning sound steadily built up at highway speeds).

I just had both rear wheel bearings replaced for the SECOND time on my 2016 Forester that has only 57,000 miles. Dealer charged $900 for the pair. They told me the wheels could fall off or lock up if bearings weren't replaced - is that true? I don't plan to replace them a third time.

https://www.carcitywholesale.com/blogs/2012-2018-subaru-forester-problems.htm There are so many people that have had issues with the bearings going bad, I wonder if anyone has filed a class-action lawsuit yet. Both of my rear bearing hubs went bad at 47,000 miles on my 2014 Forester.
