starts and idles ? scan for codes even if the light ain;t on and get the definitions , could be a bad alt.

Why do my truck s off while driving it

Have 2012 Captiva. It started to shut off while driving but it always came back on. Finally it died and would not do anything. Could not even get keys out of ignition. Towed to dealership. They replaced computer. Said it was good. Drove it about 25 mi. Completely died again. Towed to dealership Again. They had it about 7 days. Finally said that it was modular that interacts with main computer. ??? Body internal functions modular???? Very rare it fails. The total billl was very expensive. Hope that is what was wrong.

I recently had this same issue. Just changed ignition module and starter, still wont start? Any new updates??

I've discovered in my research of other's online, it is due to a faulty battery wiring g harness. The gauge wire is not enough to handle the load and heats up, causing sensors in the harness to shutdown the electrical system. Only longterm solution I can see is replacing the harness (about $200 for the part on Amazon). Shortterm, I'd just have to jiggle the wiring harness after it leaves the pos+ battery post for 5-20sec and it resets.
