starter runs when battery is connected-key is off or not in ignition

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Truck was stored for a year. dead battery replaced and starter spins with no key
in ignition.  Replaced starter.  Started running when battery connected.  
Swapped relay with same result.  Any ideas?  Thanks.

If the starter solenoid is not stuck, then you have wiring damage, sitting that long invites rodents thus wiring damage.
