replaced plastic bushings on my 1989 F150 floor shifter but failed to have in neutral. Now shifter will not go back in shifter box.HELP

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

all was going well with the repair.  Removed long shift arm from small shift arm and
replaced plastic bushings and 2 guide pins.  Now I am told that the transmission must be
in Neutral.  How do I make that happen

if front wheel drive get front wheels off ground if rear drive or 4 wheel get wheels off the ground may work

No such a thing as a front wheel drive 1989 F-150 Lloyd. But that's how we learn, I learn more that i explain on this forum. Anyway the part in blue

I know you can't see all those gears but you can try manipulating these with a big screwdriver, it won't take a lot of leverage, and get it in neutral
