why does A/C on max cause battery to pull heavy on the battery

when i turn the A/c on max and fan on full..the battery gauge shows battery not charging and the engine will stop if changing from reverse to drive ??

Alternator. They don't necessarily fail all at once, but can get weak. Suggest you have it tested.

the chances are bigger that the battery will run out if the car is not moving and spot lights or AC is ON on high! otherwise replace your battery with a stronger version 1
