Clutch/Transmission Issues

Question type: Maintenance & Repair
So I just bought a 1988 Ford Ranger.
I was driving it home when the shifter
stuck in fifth and won't come out.
The clutch isn't spongy or overly
easy to push. I'm wondering what's
wrong and how best to diagnose the
problem and fix it.

First thing to do is check the clutch fluid,if good then check the clutch master cylinder, then the slave cylinder on the transmission.
The clutch fluid is full. It's been awhile since I've worked on a standard so I'm gonna have to go look up how to check the master cylinder and slave cylinder. It was driving ok, seemed to be shifting fine till I shifted up into 5th. And a little easy later was trying to down shift and its like it threw itself into neutral but the shifter is stuck in 5th
Go under truck have some one push the clucth, you should see the slave cylinder move,
I am going to drop transmission and see what alls wrong later this week
So any suggestions on the tranny? I've never dropped and worked on a ford transmission. What should I be looking for? Or any recommendations on a good guide that walks you through it?
