Runs bad when temp is above 83 or 85

Asked by GuruSZJH3 May 14, 2019 at 10:08 AM about the 1986 Chevrolet S-10 RWD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I have a 1986 s10 with a
carburetor engine with the tbi
system on it. It runs really well as
long as the air temperature
outside stay around 80 and below.
Get above that and it runs like its
vapor locking. New cooling
system. New sensors and
distributors.

For the s10, any applicable trouble codes? Your obd1, you should be able to check come codes, yourself, if there are any? Fuel pressure for tbi is around 9--13 psi. Have you checked the coolant temp sensor? Over-fueling on hot engine can cause problems. Just my opinion.

Vapor lock can be from a fuel line running too close to a source of heat. Rerouting lines or insulating them can solve the problem.
