Try and find a old copy of the Blue Book. Other than that I would guess about 50% of the new cost depending on mileage and condition. Why?

The its has hit me with a charge off 1099 from 1993 on my wife for last year's taxes and they are waiting the value of the car for that year 22 years ago and they just non shalontly said look it up on the internet hello ibn and nada where in paper form and I don't know to many salesman that tote a 22 year old copy around

They go back 22 years? Dang! Try calling around to car dealers and see if they have old Blue Books laying around in a backroom somewhere. You could try ebay and old newspaper archives. Good Luck.

Thanks will try and be ware guess they will do anything to pay for the new health care

If you know what the new value was in 1983, you could use a typical depreciation rate of the first 10 years as 20% 10% 10% 10% 5% 5% 5% 5%.......Until it gets to about $2000 and then flat line at that point. Obviously, they don't have the data to dispute your valuation. A new Bonneville of that year probably cost about $10-12,000.
