will the 3.9 magnum fit into an 89 dodge dakota sport?

Question type: Car Customization

I have an old 89 dodge dakota that just blew a head gasket, was just going to go ahead and replace the engine. Would it be possible to put the 3.9 magnum that Dodge made into the truck? or maybe even the larger 5.2 magnum? Not very car savvy and just looking at my options. The truck is one of the 89 dakota convertibles and I would really like to hold onto it.

How much money do you have? The computerized engine controls will be the hard part- an expert can do it, but it will be a major custom project-

yes, the 3.9 magnum will fit. the 5.2 v8 will also fit, but you would have to use an electric fan.

I have an expert, possibly, maybe able to tackle the project, waiting for him to take a look at it. I would love to drop the v8 in it. Impractical, but so American.

I have similar opposite questions.... Will my 89 4x4 rear-end fit in my 98 2wd? And my 89 is 4x4 would everything fit in my 98-2wd to make it a 98 4x4 with everything from my 89 4x4 Thanks

If there both the same truck as in full size the easiest way to do that is swap out body's put the 2 wheel drive body on the 4x4 chassis everything should bolt right up you will have to cut the tunnel out of the 2 wheel drive body in order to make room for the 4x4 shift
