Asked by Chris Jun 07, 2022 at 11:48 PM about the 2000 Dodge Dakota SLT RWD

Question type: General

I have a 2000 Dodge Dakota Ext cab, SLT model,
automatic, rear wheel drive, with the 3.9 ltr engine.
This year has 2 different tanks. one is 22 gal and
the other is 25 gal. The take different fuel pumps.
how can I find out the size of my gas tank? or
which fuel pump I need? also, is it better to drop
the tank or raise the bed when changing the fuel
pump? thanks

Most pick ups are designed to remove the bed to replace the fuel pump. Once you get the old one out, take it to your local auto parts store and have them match it up. You can also call or visit your local Dodge Dealer and give them your VIN. They should be able to tell you. Hope that helps! Jim
