dakota dies

i have a 2000 dakota 4x4 4.7, it wont start when the steering wheel is up acts
like theres no battery in it but when i put the wheel down it starts and runs
normal, but if i use the tilt up it kills it like i just turned the key off.

The wires running up threw the steering column to the key locking cylinder, at the joint of where the tilt moves up and down, sounds like a wire is broken. Just need to tear into it to find it.
