the accessories (window, radio etc.) in my 2014 Ford Explorer stay on even after my car engine is turned off. If I open the door everything goes off. I want to conserve battery power but it is annoying to open the car door, if I'm just staying in the car.

I believe the time span on newer vehicles is about 5 minutes. That is the length of time my 2010 accessory power stays on. This use to be accomplished by an accessory position on the ignition cylinder on the column. You are really not using much power unless the windows, etc are being used. The lights will also stay on for a few minutes with the ignition off and the door open. This is to light your way. You can also turn off the radio and sit in the car with the ignition off if you prefer. Personally, I am of the opinion of the dealership can defeat or change the operation they will probably charge more than a new battery.
