I also have a 2014 Ford Escape Titanium and just today I was told the gasket is cracked and needs to be replaced. 97k miles. Never driven hard. I am also curious if there is recourse here due to the known coolant sensor issue that can cause overheating.

I have seen many post on crack heads on 2014 Ford Escapes, my daughter was having and check engine code P0303. Mis fire on cylinder 3, so I replace the spark plugs and coils. Still having the check light error, then a couple of days later she said the low coolant light came on. I put some in, but the next day it was low again. After a couple of more days I took it to a mechanic and they said it is at least and head gasket. Without going further in to see if the head is crack. Don't know if you would know this but is Ford doing anything about this. Thanks for any help

I have 2017 Escape with the 2.0 Ecoboost. It was misfiring on cylinder 4. The usual spark plug and coil replacement didn't work. Found out the head gasket/head has failed. Very fortunately, I have 58,400 miles on the vehicle with a 60,000 mile power train warranty. For is replacing the engine and it's all covered.

I bought my Ford Escape 2017 2.0 ecoboost in November 2017 used. At 44,016 miles coolang was determined to be leaking into the cylinder. Rough idle at start up and was pulling a P0302 misfire on the cylinder and P0316 which is random misfire on startup. Then ford stated the spark plug #2 was seized and needed to remove that to inspect. They stated that they pressure tested the cooling system and found coolant entering cylinder 2. They stated that they tested for flatness with a straight edge on cylinder head and block and found both "in spec." Since it was under power train warranty ford motor company had to make a decision whether they would replace the engine or just the head gasket. The next step was purely what is cheaper for them long term since I was dumb enough not to buy the extended warranty at the sale... and they only replaced the head. It is important to note that now.. under 20k miles since the last repair, and under 2 years since the last repair I am having the SAME issue. Ford calls it a "similar" issue because their "new" proceedure recommended by ford motor company is to replace the small block. That is right.. instead of replacing the known head gasket issue... they are now replacing engines outside of a recall. The rub..? IF I had paid out of pocket for my last faulty issue instead of the repair being under warrenty at 44k miles, this work and repair would be UNDER WARRANTY. Why is it not? FORD only guarantees their warranty work for 1 year 12k miles. So why is my estimate to replace the entire engine? Good question.. They have since updated their procedure on this. Instead of replace the head with the same head .. they are now replacing the small block and the passage between the cylindar walls is now NOT slotted but drilled to narrow the opening. They know this is an issue. There are no recalls. This is happening on the fusions too according to the dealership. What was my estimate on a 2017 Ford Escape for a small block replacement? $8200 before taxes. Again.. if I had paid the 3k in repair costs that were covered under warranty ... I would be covered under their service guarantee now instead of paying for a new engine for a virtually brand new car WELL BELOW 100k miles. DO NOT BUY FROM FORD. DO NOT! This is beyond shameful. If there are others out there with this issue (I know of 3 so far just from this dealership) it would be worth it to start looking at legal action.

portorchardFORD...this is happening to my ford 2017 focus 1.5 ecoboost (same open deck design with cuts between cylinders). The dealer replaced ONLY the head gasket and after 300 km is leaking inside cylinders again (the car has only 36 000 km and the leak developed at 22 000 km but they failed to identify it untill now). The dealer and Ford acts like nothing is wrong and is denying that this is a common issue. I have mentioned the dealer the TSB 20-2100 and still acting like they don't know anything. My car is still covered by extened warranty but unusable.
