When turning on my 2000 Crown Vic Police Interceptor, no lights work, not even the headlights, dome, brake lights and signal lights.

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

When the headlights are off during the day, all lights work, dome light,
blinkers, brake and runners, but no headlights (well they aren't on anyways)
:)  BUT, one night I went out and turned on the headlights and no other lights
would work, dome, brake, blinker, and NOT EVEN THE HEADLIGHTS. It
even makes a blinker noise and sometimes the dome light will flash in sync
with the blinking noise. One night I had to disconnect the battery because
there was no way to shut it off.  I really don't think it's the LCM. I'm wondering
if something is grounding out between the firewall and the headlight. Also, if
you jingle the blinker arm while the headlights are on, they do try to come on,
but still none of the other lights work. I believe there is either a broken wire or
maybe an exposed wire that is causing it to ground out before reaching the
headlights.  Any ideas?  ANYTHING would be appreciated! Thank you so
much in advance for your time and most of all your eminent knowledge!

Yeah, you should see the wonderful wiring job under the hood to the headlights. It's crazy! So many wire nuts and some wires alone. Any idea where I can find a wiring diagram with component locator for this. I was going to unplug the 3 prong from each headlight and follow the wire to make sure they aren't broke or exposed making it ground out and checking each of the prongs. I know 2 are live and 1 is ground, I'm going to get a fuse checker to check these prongs and see if it lights up on not, if they light up, then we got another problem. I just need to see if there is actual power going to the headlights or if it is getting grounded somewhere along the process. You are amazing for answering me! If you have any other ideas, they would be GREATLY appreciated! Have a wonderful weekend!

Thank you again so much! I did realize that ever since I bought the car when the headlights worked, I did notice that the brights NEVER worked, but I just blew it off... That was probably the 1st sign... Figures. I will let you know how it goes.. You rock!!!!! I did find this diagram, if you have a chance can you take a look? You have to scroll down to see the diagram, is this what I am looking for? https://www.justanswer.com/ford/0kqtf-2000-crown-victoria-police-package-numerous- wires.html#.Wf057EYFGLQ.email Thank you!

You are truly the best... I am still steady looking for the wiring diagram, if I can't find it tonight, I'll go on Ebay and get it cheaper :)... About 2 weeks ago, the car was stuck in park but after about an hour of research figuring out it was the brake switch, I fixed it in 5 minutes :) So, I'm one of those women who will try my hardest before taking it somewhere. Plus, I'm a Taurus and once we get started on something, we are pretty stubborn about it :) Thank you again for all of your help. I promise I will keep you updated! Thanks again, Robin
