My 2001 crown victoria police interceptor won't rev up

Asked by demjakaub Apr 11, 2015 at 09:52 AM about the 2001 Ford Crown Victoria Police Interceptor

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I took my car to get a oil change,
then later i noticed my oil pressure
gauge was dropping with a small
tapping noise but it only jumped
around after 15 mins of driving but
once at a stop or slow down it start
to jump from normal to low, but
once i hit the gas it goes back up to
normal. So i was just going to finish
what i had to do and park it but
when on my way home i was pulling
out a parking lot then a car came
flying around the corner running the
stop sign so to avoid getting hit i
pressed the gas and my car took off
fast and hit every gear perfectly but
when i let go off the car it started to
feel like it died but it was still
running, when i tried to press the
gas it wasn't doing anything it
wasn't even making a noise or rev
up. But i notice when i rest my foot
on the accelerator it accelerate a
little but anything part like half a
inch it won't do anything but run.
Now it not tapping hard it runs the
same but just won't rev up now i
know i have to replace the oil pump
but what's stopping my baby from
accelerating PLEASE PLEASE
PLEASE HELP ME SAVE MY CAR IT
HAS 150,004 MILES

You can request a drive with a tech or service advisor at your Ford dealer. Once they get some idea what your issue is ? or find more than one separate issue ? they can advise you. it seems, defining the problem(s) While your tech witnesses them is best advice to keep from replacing things unnecessarily. If sensors make indicators malfunction, they can be eliminated or found to be the cause first before condemning engine parts. Driving with some kind of oil concern is not recommended. Engine wont accellerate may have caused a code to set, you can have the parts store try to get the service diagnostic code for the tests to be run by a tech. A visual inspection of the throttle parts could reveal something in a crn vic, like a coked up throttle? disconnected cable? The electronic parts can be tested with a DVOM meter that reads resistance. If your code sent your tech there, the pinpoint tests give info about pins, connector views, and readings to take and what is pass /fail. you can google the code to read up. Or you can take the car to the tech to save totally educating yourself to be a tech.
