Ford Crown Victoria AC

Asked by Cameronkeys Aug 11, 2016 at 10:11 AM about the 2006 Ford Crown Victoria Police Interceptor

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I have a Ford Crown Victoria interceptor. When I
accelerate fast the AC starts making some noise
like a loud fan noise and blowing very soft. Usually
it starts blowing at the feet and starts blowing very
soft at the top. Then once I stop accelerating it
goes back to normal....

What is "normal?" Does the AC work like it should when you are not accelerating very fast? Under "wide open throttle (WOT)" a cut-out relay kicks off the AC compressor so the engine can work without the compressor drag. I couldn't tell you what the "loud fan noise" is, the only thing in there is the blower motor. When the AC kicks off, the blower motor may run to dry the evap coil and prevent mold. Honestly it sounds like your CVPI is operating like it should, just keep off the lead-footed driving when on the public road ways lol.

Thanks! The AC does work just like it should except when I'm accelerating. I'm not accelerating unusually fast. But once I get over 40 or 50 and am increasing speed to 60 or so it has this problem. This is something that has never happened before until now. When the problem starts I hear a loud fan noise coming through the air vents.

This post may help you with checking the WOT relay or AC clutch relay; http://www.crownvic.net/ubbthreads/ubbthreads.php?ubb=showflat&Number=2313548 - if you own a CVPI you might want to join that forum anyhow, it's a great resource.
