on my 07 crown vic. police package the transmission started slipping and eventually went out now when we tried to move it the car would only go forward is there any further problems?

Did you check the transmission fluid level? Make sure it has enough fluid and that it is a good red color and not burnt or brown.

at first it was brown, then I put new trans fluid in there and nothing really changed so im getting another trans pulled off of an 08 police package is that a good idea

Brown fluid is not a good sign. The trans may be shot. I can't say if a used transmission is a good idea or not. Hopefully it is cheap.
