Check engine light 2006 GMC Envoy

Asked by Cmt924 Aug 08, 2018 at 10:21 AM about the 2006 GMC Envoy SLE 4WD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

My check engine light has been on for awhile now
and sometimes blinks about 30secs after staring
and the basically putters and the runs fine. 8 codes
came up when plugged in the gas cap and the O2
Sensor was changed which got rid of 7 codes. Now
I just have a running too lean code coming up. A
smoke test was done & there was no leak detected
in the intake manifold but we are stumped as to
what else it is.

Check the bolts in the intake they are famous for loosening up. If I recall they're only 7ft lbs of torque on each one, it's a plastic intake.

I had the same thing just recently. Start by removing the throttle body and MAF sensor and cleaning them really well. Chances are you're not getting the right air/fuel mix and that causes the lean code as well as rough idle. Make sure to use throttle body cleaner that is safe for electronics and use MAF sensor cleaner. Total cost less than $20 and about an hour of your time. Check out YouTube for the video! throttle bodies apparently should be cleaned every year depending on how much driving your doing. This should also help with gas mileage.
