DEALER REFUSES WARRANTY AND RECALL REPAIR
MY CAR HAD A DEAD BATTERY AFTER IT WAS CHARGED i STILL HAD
PROBLEMS, SO IT WAS SUGGESTED i BUY A NEW BATTERY WHICH i
DID AND IT WAS AN APPROVED BATTERY. THE CARD WOULD NOT GO
IN REVERSE AND SHORTLY AFTER HAD TROUBLE IN FORWARD GEARS
AS WELL{AUTOMATIC }. i TOOK IT TO THE DEALER MIND YOU THERE IS
AT LEAST 1 RECALL FOR MY VIN# AND AN EXTENDED WARRANTY AS
WELL. THE DEALER CALLED ME AND QUOTED $3700 REPAIR TO SHIFT
FORK AND STATED NO WARRANTY NOR RECALL WAS AVIAILABLE FOR
THIS AND I AM QUESTIONING THEIR MOTIVES AS I LATER FOUND OUT
FROM REVIEWS THE DEALER IS NOT WELL THOUGHT OF TO SAY THE
LEAST. ANY SUGGESTIONS I NEED HELP

Most cars that are 6 years old do not have any warranty coverage. An independent shop can fix your car for less.
A 6 year old battery is no longer covered by any warranty! Even if you had the battery replaced under warranty, say, 3 years old. The original warranty on the original battery continues on from the original batter's installation date. So either way the battery is out of warranty. As for the recall. Every 2014 Focus made may not be included in the recall. It usually doesn't work that way. Usually only a certain number of vehicles made during a certain time period of the model year run are included. Visit carcomplaints.com and enter your vehicle information. Then click on the recalls tab to see if there's any recalls that your vehicle may be involved in. Then call Ford Customer Service and give them your VIN. They will tell you if you are involved in the recall. By doing this you can go around the Dealer. Some dealers hate doing recalls and warranty work for some reason! My local Chevrolet Dealer is like that. If you are involved in the recall go to another Ford Dealer for repairs. Hope that helps! Jim
Ok do not expect anything for battery but I have been told the software problem starts or get worse with the changing or charging of batteries. The warranty for the part of the transmission has been extended by Ford Motor company . The CVC recall myVIN is included as explained in Fords letter to me.
Do you have the recall number? I just looked at carcomplaints.com and saw no recalls involving the transmission for a 2014 Ford Focus. I do see the extended warranty on the transmission. It is for the clutch assembly only on dual clutch transmissions. The total warranty is 7 years or 100,000 miles whichever comes first. Are you over 100,000 miles? If so you're out of warranty because of mileage. Also, it appears, that if something other than the clutch assembly is causing your transmission problem you're not covered by the extended warranty. I'd look elsewhere to replace the whole transmission assembly. It will probably be cheaper and the warranty you will get on a rebuilt transmission will go beyond the one year's time you have remaining on the extended Ford warranty anyhow. Getting back to the battery, when you replace the battery on a newer vehicle often times the computers must remain powered up while the battery is disconnected. Otherwise the computer will need to be reprogrammed (flashed) using your VIN. If you had the Dealer replace the battery they should have known that and certainly should have the equipment to keep the computers powered up during the battery replacement. If a reprogram is necessary they should do that for you for free. They messed it up, they can fix it up, for free!! Hope that helps! Jim
