Ford did not marketed too many Escorts ZX2 with the CVH, DOHC Zetec engine in the U.S. which probably is the one you have. The common engine for the Escort Sedan and ZX2 was the four cylinder. It is possible that this is the reason why you are not able to find sites for parts and upgrades. The V6 was marketed in large numbers in Europe, try to look up what you want in those sites.

The 1999 Ford Escort ZX2 only came with one engine. Both the Hot and Cool came with the Ztec 4 Cylinder 2.0 L DOHC. Engine Code "3" [ Eighth Digit of Vin]. Some folks were doing Engine Swaps with the Ford Contour or the Mazda Protege. You can even find a guy online that has a mod ZX2 rear wheel drive converted with V8 engine. Ford did release 100 or so 1999 Ford ZX2 S/R versions, which cost about 1500.00 more in upgraded Ford Performance Parts options but only gave a 10% gain in performance. So from 130 HP stock to 143 HP. Sold mainly in California. Note the 1999 Ford Ztec Engine was the only version released that was Non-Interference Engine. All others were Interference Engines that if the timing belt broke you lost the Engine.
