2014 silverado battery drain issue

Asked by Zachary Feb 06, 2018 at 07:50 PM about the 2014 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 LT Crew Cab 4WD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Have a 2014 silverado and I keep losing power.
Can jump in the morning will start fine all day let it
sit overnight and nothing. Checked all fuses for
parasitic drain couldn't find anything. Bought a new
battery ran fine for a week or so then same issue
occurred. Tested battery it came up bad and
showed alt was overcharging, almost 16v, sooo put
a new alt and another new battery on it worked for
2 days now the same issue.

I’m having similar issues as above. Was the harness not tight enough or how was that effecting the battery?

Any updates on this? Having the same issue EXACTLY!! Got a new battery (Optima Yellow top), worked fine for a few days, then dead. Checked under the hood and my positive lead was loose, like it would come off without even trying. Tightened it and Charged it overnight with my battery tender. Next day, cranked great with no issues, thought PROBLEM SOLVED!! Well, about a week later I went to remote start my truck and the lights wouldn’t come on and engine didn’t turn over. Went out and turned the key, click click click click... same issue. Trying to see if it’s something obvious I can resolve or if it needs to go to the dealer. Thanks :)

I have a 2014 and I’m currently having the same problem. I jump it in the morning just like the rest and it’s fine but when I try agin the next morning it just clicks. Does anyone know why or what it could be?

I have found that the USBs, Cigarette lighters, plugs--all in the center stack and elsewhere are not on aux power. So, if you have something plugged into those (like I did), they will be draining your battery even after you have locked and walked away from your vehicle. I am not sure if this is the reason for the problem, but it certainly can't help. Others please share whether or not you have things plugged in that may be causing the issue, or--if not, maybe you substantiate that there may be some other issue.

I bought a new 2014 Silverado when they came out. Three months later after a long weekend and hadn’t driven in three days I went out to get in my truck and the battery was so dead it wouldn’t even unlock the doors. Finally got it jumped and took it to the dealer and they said the battery was good and wouldn’t do anything about it. They said if it happened again don’t jump it. Call them and they would send a wrecker. Couple of months later, same thing happened after a long weekend. Called and waited all day for the wrecker to finally get there. They still couldn’t find anything. After I raised hell they decided to put a new battery on it. A few months later the same thing. If it didn’t get driven every day it would not stay charged. I took it to a good local mechanic. He couldn’t find the voltage drain either. I’ve been through five batteries and finally I just started keeping a charger on it every night. That stopped the voltage drain but it’s a pain in the ass. I’ve had Chevrolets all my life. The dealer has been calling me lately wanting me to trade in on a new one. I told him I was planning on trading it on a new one but it wouldn’t be a Chevrolet. Solution: Buy a Ford.

Has anyone found answers to this? I just bought a 2014 in December and now having these issues. They tested and said battery was fine. I jump it and it will stay but overnight completely dies so I have to jump again in the morning....so frustrating. I don't want to go and buy new batteries after seeing the above comments. Help.

A poor seal on the media antenna and water was dripping from sunglasses holder. It had ran across the sill to the upper console. The dealer replaced the media antenna but the water has ruined wiring in upper console. I first noticed the screen had a slight glow and the next day battery died. If it wasn’t for the torrential rain, I would never have known it had leaked.
