Synthetic oil distance between changes

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

HOW FAR BETWEEN SYNTHETIC OIL
CHANGES?  Hi, I just purchased a 2014 Ford
Expedition with the 5.4 L V-8 (found it through
Cargurus, thank-you!)  I presume it has
Motorcraft 5W-20 or equivalent in it now.  I
hope to keep it a long time.  Should I switch
to synthetic oil?  Blend or pure synthetic?  I
always used conventional oil on my last
Expedition and changed it every 5,000 miles
on average.  It was running like a top when I
traded it in at 234,000 miles.  Both the old and
new Exp manual recommend oil changes at
7,500 miles.  My driving these days is mostly
city and some highway, no hard usage.  If I
switch to synthetic, how far can I go between
changes?  Is 10,000 miles too much?  Thank
you.

Go with your past experience. I use 5,000 mile intervals with synthetic.
