My 2004 Yukon 4wd the "traction active" warning displays intermittently,
Asked by mulch Jul 02, 2014 at 08:10 PM about the 2004 GMC Yukon SLT 4WD
Question type: Maintenance & Repair
It happens about 5 or 6 times a week. when it comes on the car hesitates for a couple of
seconds and then regains power. Then the display warning goes off. This is happening
on dry pavement and there is no slipping or skidding. I noticed about half the time it
happens when I pull out onto the road turning right. The dealer replaced a steering
sensor but it still kept happening. Now he says he doesn't see a code so he can't do
anything. I have Stabilitrack and I notice the indicator light is now always in the 4WD
high position. I always thought it was in the 2WD position before but I didn't really pay
attention and I'm not sure about that. The dealer says it should be in the 4WD high
position and stabilitrack will kick in when needed. Any thoughts out there? thanks.

we are talking about the "traction active" display
I believe you are losing power due to a bad Throttle Position Sensor. Have it replaced. I think the bad TPS will also cause the Trac light to flash. On some GM's the throttle bodies were bad and had to be replaced.
I have 2005 GMC Yukon Denali, and my car would say traction active when I would turn or just stop then go. I spent around 5 weeks just searching after work and during g the day on how to fix this. I cleaned the sensors then ohm them out and they where good but to no avale. I went on a trip and noticed that I could hear a whining and the alignment was off a little bit the. Got home and the transmission light came on . It all hit me that all this stuff was happening and it was all linked to the bearing in my hubassembly was bad! Sooo if your traction active is coming on and you don't have a constant abs sensor check your bearings. I read hours of forums and couldn't find one that says what I'm saying so hope it helps somebody out there !
Do you mean a front wheel bearing hub assembly ? Or something in the transefer case ? I have an 04 Yukon Denali doung the same thing, but it doesn't do it when I turn off my traction control.
@GuruVJGGF did you ever figure out what the problem was?
Has anyone fixed there traction active i replaced the abs sensor and it got worse then it was before

I have the same issue with my 2004 gmc yukon slt with jl4 code for the breaking. (active non active? i dont know.) I didnt notice when i bought the vehical until 3 days later. ive had it about 5 months now and have had all kind of episodes when it falls flat on its face from a stand still or just randomly whole driving down the road. I also had a brake line issue so i decided to replace them all with a complete kit from Ez Brake .com. but when the kit arrived many components were different and was able to replace only the rear lines. Gm needs to get a handle on this because there are hundreds of thousands of the vehicals on the road still. i see an average of 20 to 30 a day just on my way to work. i have no advice how to fix this issue as i have the same issue.
